Fulham Broadway Shopping Centre turned pink on the 24 October 2014 for Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM). Breast cancer support charity The Haven, which has a centre in Fulham, raised awareness of their services by decorating Fulham Broadway Shopping Centre with hundreds of pink balloons and setting up an information stand in the Broadway. The Mayor of Hammersmith and Fulham attended the event and was delighted to see that The Haven was able to increase awareness of their programme of support and therapies for those affected by breast cancer. The Haven were also selling cupcakes and cake pops kindly provided by The Pop Up Cake Shop and Antonia’s Bakery.
This is also the first year that The Haven have launched a Fulham BCAM Raffle. All prizes have been donated by local businesses and there are over 30 prizes to be won. These include love2shop vouchers donated by Fulham Broadway, lunch at Manuka Kitchen, Fit8 coaching sessions and dinner at The Malt House. A full list can be found on The Haven’s website.
Other businesses are actively adopting the pink theme by supporting The Haven in various ways. The Broadway’s Funky Juice bar is selling a pink juice with 15% being donated to The Haven and The Lekkerbek on Effie Road is also selling a pink Haven drink as well as pushing raffle tickets.
Pamela Healy OBE, The Haven’s CEO, said: “This is the fourth time that we have turned Fulham pink and this year Fulham Broadway Shopping Centre was pinker than ever. We are delighted that Fulham businesses have been supporting The Haven by donating prizes for our first BCAM raffle among other things. In particular we would like to thank Fulham Broadway Shopping Centre for their ongoing support. Local support is vital for the charity as not only does it help raise important funds but it all helps spread the word about what we do to support people through the challenges breast cancer brings.”
